Celebration (Contests)

Celebration Room Eligibility & Entry

Judged Scale Model Contest, Photo Contest, People's Choice Awards and Showcase

  1. Anyone who is registered for an NMRA National Convention may bring models, photos and arts and crafts for display in the Celebration Room and is eligible to compete in the People's Choice Awards Contest.  Only NMRA members in good standing are eligible to enter the Judged Scale Model and Judged Photo Contests.  NMRA members may bring a display by proxy with verification of the builder's valid NMRA membership number.
  2. Entrants are NOT eligible for any contests if they are engaged in the business of the contest entered (i.e. Commercial Model Builder is not eligible for the model contest, Professional Photographer is not eligible for the photo contest).  Commercially built models and commercial photos are not eligible to be entered.  The judges will consider only models or portions thereof, which are the products of the owner/builder.
  3. There is a limit of 5 entries in each category in the Judged Model Contest and a maximum of 25 total models/displays entered by a single entrant, and no entry fee.  Additional limits for photos can be found in the Photo Contest Tab.
  4. All entries to the Judged Model Contest must be "scaled models".  No Lego, Hi-Rail or such entries will be permitted.
  5. Entries that have won a first place in any prior National Contest cannot be entered in the same contest category.
  6. Anyone submitting an entry in the Celebration Room must submit the Contest Entry Form #901, including name and address, NMRA membership number (for Judged Model and Photo Contests), scale, category(s) entered and model identification.
  7. Anyone entering the Judged Scale Model Contest must also submit a Judge's Score Sheet Form #902.   Supplemental information to verify or provide additional description of how the item was built and prototype documentation may also be submitted.  However, all supplemental information should be very short, concisely written and presented in order, by factor.  The judges will review short, supplemental descriptions, but are under no obligation to review long dissertations.
  8. A claim check will be handed to the modeler (or proxy) upon entry and must be presented to retrieve entries after the Contest.
