Rick Coble

Vice President

Rick has been a member of the NMRA since 2001.  By the end of that year, he began his ten-year stint as editor of the division newsletter and found that being involved greatly enhanced his enjoyment of the hobby.
He has served on the Southeastern Region's Board of Directors and received the SER's highest service awards: the Dave Muller Award for service at the division level, the President's Award, the Chairman's Award, and the Vern Yarbrough Award for service to the region.
At the national level Rick has served as Assistant Secretary and Secretary.  He ran the USA online segment of elections from 2018 until 2020.
Rick received a Marklin train set when he was ten, complete with a tiny 0-6-0 steam engine and beer wagons.  He didn't see these on the Rock Island Chicago-Omaha mainline or later on the SCL switching the Port of Tampa, but his model trains ran great.  When he left for college, the trains ended up in his dad's possession.  That little 0-6-0 still pulls trains around his parents' Christmas tree every December.
Today Rick models in N scale and is building a layout based on an abandoned Seaboard Airline branch in Northeast Georgia.  Outside of the hobby, Rick's professional life included financial computer systems operations, managing a customer service team for an online public records research firm serving corporate and government customers, product development and operations management.
