Atlantic Director

Jonathan has been a member of the NMRA since 1986, when he joined to pursue his interest in
American outline modelling by learning from his fellow members. Exposed to a superb American
layout during his school years, Jonathan was soon converted to US modelling and has pursued his
modelling interest alongside a busy working and family life.
Jonathan recently served as NMRA British Region President and Vice President, led the organization
of the very successful 2022 BR Convention in Crewe, and continues to assist in the editing and
preparation of BR's Roundhouse magazine. He completed his MMR in 2021. He was elected as
Atlantic District Director in succession to Mike Arnold from July 2025.
Jonathan is a professional musician and teacher, playing in professional symphony orchestras for his
whole career, and continues to conduct music and to teach at University level. During his time with
the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic he served a total of 9 years as a member of its Board of Directors,
also chairing artistic planning committees.
Having lived at the same address for a long time has allowed Jonathan to build a fairly extensive (by
British standards) N scale layout at his home, representing the Great Northern's line over Stevens
Pass.
