Since 1986, the A. C. Kalmbach Memorial Library has housed the archives for the National Model Railroad Association and aided its members in answering research questions. The library is open to the public and aids all who have an interest in prototype and model railroads. Members of the NMRA do receive priority attention and receive discounts on services and publications.
We understand that Chattanooga, Tennessee may be a long drive for most of our members and friends which is why we specialize in doing the research for you. We answer thousands of research questions a year covering topics from paint schemes to builder's drawings, kit instructions to layout plans. Browse our collection to see the resources we have available. You may have a specific idea of what you need, such as a listing from a 1928 Official Railway and Equipment Register for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. Or, you may need to know what type of storefronts were in a certain city on the ATSF during the 1950s, but you have no idea where to begin. We're here to help.
Have books, magazines, pictures, slides, negatives, videos, model or prototype railroad equipment you wish to dispose of? See Making Donations for more information, including options for selling collections.
