42" G-12

42" Gauge G-12

Note: This is not a 'How To', but a display of a completed 'Scratchbuilt Project' showing what can be done with some materials and time. It does not have to have been judged for AP Points.

Not sure if this picture is suitable for the Scratchbuild Showcase/Kitbash Korner, but thought I would send to you anyway.

This is a TT Scale 42" gauge G-12. I patterned it after the very similar G-8's that CN ran on the narrow gauge Newfoundland Railway in the sixties. It is built from an etched brass kit produced by the Chosen Scale in New Zealand. The mechanism is a Life Like N Scale SD7. I added some details such as the handrails from wire and flat brass strips, and also the handrails on the ends, and the sun shades, window sills, stacks horns and bell. Because it is a relatively small locomotive I was able to use N Scale decals.

Isn't the internet wonderful. I would never have found this kit, from the other side of the world, in years past.
