you book your train trip. If your train is late (i.e. The COAST STARLIGHT) they
will take responsibility to get you to your destination.

about $15.00. The Anaheim Station
is
about 2 miles from the hotel. Cab fare is about $8.00.

Fullerton Station on its way to Los Angeles Union Station. Amtrak designates
Los Angeles as LAX just as airlines do.
The COAST STARLIGHT, the SAN
JOAQUINS and the SUNSET LIMITED take you to Los Angeles Union Station. Remember
to let Amtrak know your destination is the Fullerton Station. From LA Union
Station you can take the PACIFIC SURFLINER or METROLINK, to the Fullerton
Station or the Anaheim Station.

California. To get to

Train Travel Side Note
Stopping off in
Sacramento and San
Francisco (Emeryville)
The COAST STARLIGHT (from
Seattle to
Los Angeles) and the CALIFORNIA ZEPHYR (from
Chicago to Emeryville) stop at both
Sacramento and Emeryville.
EMERYVILLE, adjacent to
Oakland, has Amtrak transportation across the bay to
San Francisco. Hotels are within easy walking distance of the
Emeryville station.
SACRAMENTO, the capital of
California, is an historic part of the gold rush and the start
of the Central Pacific portion of the Transcontinental Railroad. Within easy
walking distance of the Sacramento
station are hotels and the CALIFORNIA
STATE
RAILROAD
MUSEUM in OLD TOWN SACRAMENTO.
Both Emeryville and
Sacramento stations are served by the COAST STARLIGHT, the
CALIFORNIA ZEPHYR, the SAN JOAQUINS, and the CAPITOL CORRIDOR.
The COAST STARLIGHT continues
to suffer from poor on-time-performance (from
Seattle to
Los Angeles), but the trip (especially south along the ocean) is
worth it.
The SAN JOAQUINS have about
95 percent on-time-performance although from
Bakersfield you have a bus trip over the mountains to Los Angeles
Union Station.
The CAPITOL CORRIDOR has 36
commuter trains a day from Sacramento
to the San
Francisco
Bay area as far south as
San Jose.
Trains in Southern California
The PACIFIC SURFLINER runs
several trains a day between San Diego,
Oceanside,
Anaheim,
Fullerton,
Los Angeles Union Station, and Santa Barbara with some trains to
San Luis Obispo.
METROLINK is a commuter train
(limited weekend schedule) that connects the greater
Los Angeles area to outlying destinations. It goes as far south
as OCEANSIDE.
The COASTER is a commuter
train that runs from OCEANSIDE to
San Diego.
