Special
Clinic
Kenichi
Matsumoto and John Glaab will present a clinic on the early days of
Japanese brass model making at the NMRA Convention in Anaheim.
Mr. Matsumoto was a young boy during the days when the Japanese brass
business was just getting started, and he knew many of these early
builders on a first-name basis.
He is now the
editor/publisher of the Japanese magazine Train, has published several
books, and runs an import business catering to American prototype
modelers. He is also an avid collector and has a large HO scale layout
based upon western American railroads. He is generally regarded as the
“Al Kalmbach of Japan."
The clinic will
consist of a PowerPoint presentation showing several pictures of early
Japanese models and the relationship of the American GI to the brass
business. He will also discuss the evolution of the business. A
question-and-answer session will follow.
John Glaab is the author of “The Brown Book of Brass Locomotives.”
The clinic will be offered at 8:30 PM on Thursday, July 17th,
and 4:00 PM on Friday, July 18th.
