CONTESTS

The 2008 National Convention will provide a full schedule of NMRA contest events. The contest array includes model construction, photos, arts and crafts, passes and modules. The 2008 convention will feature a dual contest format not usually seen at these annual events. The Pacific Southwest Region, host to the convention, is required in its bylaws to have an annual convention with an attendant contest program. Therefore, there will be two contests running concurrently, one for NMRA awards, and one for PSR awards. Members of the PSR will be allowed to enter both contests provided that their entries have not been previous best of show or first place winners in PSR regional convention contests. If the entries have won in previous PSR contests, they will still be eligible for entry in the NMRA contests.

The annual NMRA contests always draw a great deal of interest, with virtually all convention attendees visiting the contest room. The contest room will be open Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Judging will be conducted on Wednesday, and the awards presented on Thursday (tentatively scheduled for 9:30a). On Friday the room will be open from 8:00am to noon for entries to be picked up.”
